Even though the Cranberry Area Berries scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, the Union Knights/Damsels still came out on top. Union managed a 72-66 victory over Cranberry Area. For Union, this counts as revenge for the 68-55 defeat Cranberry Area walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Union got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayden Smith out in front who scored 24 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Bish, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Union's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Cranberry Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Union will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Redbank Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. As for Cranberry Area, they will head out on the road to square off against Cochranton at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
