The Hershey Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Boiling Springs Bubblers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hershey's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Boiling Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hershey made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Red Land, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Patriots on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Hershey got a great performance from Colton Fultz as he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Clark Green, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Grant Later also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Hershey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Boiling Springs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over James Buchanan on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bubblers.
Boiling Springs let Landon McMahon and Josh Snyder run wild. McMahon scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Snyder scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. McMahon is becoming a predictor of Boiling Springs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Chance Flor was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Hershey's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Boiling Springs, their record is now 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hershey has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Boiling Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
