The Richwood Rams pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Winnfield at home by a decisive 70-56 margin. Richwood lost against Winnfield in their previous head to head back in March, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 77-63 score last time.
Winnfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damascus Lewis led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jaylon Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Richwood bumped their record down to 11-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Winnfield, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richwood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wossman at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Wossman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 932 points over their last 13 matches. Winnfield is on the road again on Saturday and play against Madison at 3:00 p.m. on December 30th. Madison will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
