The Marlington Dukes the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Howland Tigers at 1:15 p.m. on January 20th. Marlington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Howland is ranked 71st).
Marlington posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Minerva 54-23 at home.
Meanwhile, Howland came up short against Boardman on Wednesday and fell 60-52. Howland has not had much luck with Boardman recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Alyssa Massucci put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Gia Hoso, who scored eight points.
Marlington's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Howland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Marlington against Howland in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 73-39 win. Will Marlington repeat their success, or does Howland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
