The Savannah Classical Academy Spartans suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 68-33 loss at the hands of McIntosh County Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Savannah Classical Academy in their matchups with McIntosh County Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McIntosh County Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mj Quarterman, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. Quarterman is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Johnson, who scored 20 points along with four steals.
Savannah Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for McIntosh County Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Savannah Classical Academy and Jenkins County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Jenkins County is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. McIntosh County Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Wayne County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 417th, while McIntosh County Academy is ranked 197th).
