The Nanih Waiya Warriors waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 50-33 win over Noxapater. Given Nanih Waiya's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Tigers are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nanih Waiya's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyshea Hoskin led the charge by scoring 19 points. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Hoskin has scored at least a third of Nanih Waiya's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexzandria Eiland, who scored 14 points.
Nanih Waiya pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Noxapater, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nanih Waiya will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. French Camp Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Noxapater, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
