Louisburg is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Southern School of Energy and Sustainability is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Louisburg Warriors will host the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Louisburg was fully in charge, breezing past South Granville 73-39. With the Warriors ahead 42-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
CHLOE ARRINGTON was her usual excellent self, going 15-for-30 to rack up 33 points in addition to six assists and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Louisburg's points. Another player making a difference was OMARI JACKSON, who went 5-for-7 on her way to 13 points and three steals.
Louisburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Southern School of Energy and Sustainability took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 58-18 victory over J.F. Webb. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's win came from a few key players Louisburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aliyah Herndon, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Hudson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards.
Louisburg has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Louisburg has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southern School of Energy and Sustainability struggles in that department as they've been averaging 45.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Louisburg was dealt a bruising 62-19 defeat at the hands of Southern School of Energy and Sustainability when the teams last played back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Louisburg was down 43-11.
