Basketball Game Preview: Oasis Sharks vs. Canterbury Cougars

Oasis is 1-9 against Canterbury since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Oasis Sharks will look to defend their home court against the Canterbury Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Oasis is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 80-63 victory over Southwest Florida Christian on Tuesday.

Oasis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brendan Overbaugh out in front who went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Overbaugh has posted since back in November of 2024. Zack Louzao was another key player, going 7 of 12 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Oasis was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest Florida Christian only racked up five assists.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canterbury, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Naples Classical 86-48 on Tuesday. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Canterbury has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Oasis, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Oasis didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Canterbury when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. Will Oasis repeat their success, or does Canterbury have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
