Basketball Recap: Bunker Hill Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Bunker Hill won the last time they faced Mulberry Grove, and Will Manar did his part to make sure it happened again. The Bunker Hill Minutemen came out on top against the Mulberry Grove Aces by a score of 67-56 on Thursday thanks in part to Manar, who posted 24 points. Those 24 points gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Bryce Yates, who put up 13 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Mulberry Grove lost, don't look at Landon Sugg. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Sugg is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last eight games he's played. Jackson Icenogle was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Bunker Hill has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Mulberry Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bunker Hill and Maryville Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Mulberry Grove, they will venture away from home to take on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mulberry Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
