Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bullitt Central). Everything went their way against the Fairdale Bulldogs on Saturday as they made off with a 17-3 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Cole Halbrook was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Halbrook was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Landon Sims looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Burton, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Henry Zimmerman was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Bullitt Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairdale only posted an OBP of .333.

Bullitt Central's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8. As for Fairdale, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bullitt Central will square off against Fern Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Fairdale, they will take on Whitefield Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
