On Greenfield/Northwestern's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lainey Frank, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Frank's first of the season. Kalynn Weller was another, going 2-for-3 with one double.
Coming up, Gillespie will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in the Miners' favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while the Hiltoppers have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will head out to take on West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.78 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
