The Lakeside Panthers suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Grovetown by a score of 55-53. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lakeside in their matchups with Grovetown: they've now lost seven in a row.
Lakeside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryce Reynierson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marcus Chambliss, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Lakeside's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-7. As for Grovetown, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Brunswick has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 22. As for Grovetown, they will head out on the road to face off against South Effingham at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
