It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Sutton Sammies ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They managed a 50-46 win over Hopedale. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sutton.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sutton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cam Benedict, who scored 16 points. The contest was Benedict's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Benedict, who scored 14 points.
Hopedale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Patrick Madden, who scored 14 points, and Robbie Manning who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Hudson Terando, who scored seven points.
The victory got Sutton back to even at 3-3. As for Hopedale, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutton will square off against Blackstone-Millville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Blackstone-Millville is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Hopedale, they will head out on the road to face off against Nipmuc Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Nipmuc Regional will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
