The Caliche Buffaloes struggled with assists on Friday (the Akron Rams had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Caliche's tough 61-35 defeat to the Rams might stick with them for a while. Caliche has not had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Caliche lost, one person who can't be blamed is Karsyn Huss. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Huss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Ryann Svoboda was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
Kinsey Grauer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Akron, scoring 26 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grauer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Benish, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Caliche has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Akron, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caliche will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Peetz is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Buffaloes a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Akron, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cubs at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th.
