The Ponaganset Chieftains had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against Rogers by a score of 15-8. For Ponaganset, this counts as revenge for the 54-40 defeat Rogers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Jason Pincince was his usual excellent self, rushing for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Ponaganset's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Rogers, Narragansett, and Pilgrim. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Ponaganset will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Lincoln is ranked seventh, while Ponaganset is ranked 20th). Rogers will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th.
