The Salem Quakers were the 53-22 winner over the Howland Tigers when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Salem fell 71-60 to Howland on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alyssa Massucci was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 26 points. Another player making a difference was Jessie DeSalvo, who scored 12 points.
Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Howland, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will face off against Cardinal Mooney at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Howland, they will head out on the road to face off against Nordonia at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
