Wharton is 8-2 against Bellville since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wharton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Bellville Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. Wharton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Wharton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 95-42 victory over Sealy at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wharton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angell Gaona, Jr., who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Gaona, Jr. hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Jacoryan Dickerson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bellville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 72-47 loss at the hands of Royal. While losing is never fun, Bellville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1055th, while Royal is ranked 469th).
Wharton's victory bumped their record up to 12-18. As for Bellville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Wharton beat Bellville 51-38 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wharton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
