Greencastle has gone a perfect 6-0 against Crawfordsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tiger Cubs will welcome the Athenians at 7:00 p.m. Greencastle has given up an average of 55.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Greencastle had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Cascade put an end to it on Friday. The Tiger Cubs took a blow against the Cadets, falling 98-13. The game marked the Tiger Cubs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Although Greencastle took the loss, they still got scores from Trevin Long and Taevyn King.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of King, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Crawfordsville had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against North Montgomery by a score of 39-28 on Friday. Considering the Athenians' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Crawfordsville had a senior duo take command as Mason McCarty rushed for 117 yards and two scores on only 12 carries and Diego Velasco rushed for 155 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 117 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for McCarty.
Crawfordsville didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North Montgomery to a completion percentage of just 34.8%. The team can thank Elijah Lolla-Martinez for the heroic effort on defense: he. Crawfordsville is 3-1 when they limit the passing game like that.
Greencastle now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Crawfordsville, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-4.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Greencastle has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 343.7 passing yards per game.
