The Callaway Chargers lost against the Vicksburg Gators back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Callaway fell just short of Vicksburg by a score of 18-16. Callaway has struggled against Vicksburg recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Callaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Duran McClendon. Despite the final result, he rushed for 196 yards while picking up 10.9 yards per carry.
Leading Vicksburg to victory were DeCorey Knight Jr and Collin Johnson. Knight Jr , while Johnson rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Callaway's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Vicksburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Callaway will take on Warren Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Callaway in Mississippi (Warren Central is ranked 13th, while Callaway is ranked 89th). As for Vicksburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
