The Carmel Padres came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Salinas 70-44. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-20.
Carmel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hudson Rutherford out in front who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 19 points and 1 assist. Simeon Brown was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Carmel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for Salinas, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
Carmel will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Dores at 7:00 p.m. Monterey is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Salinas, they will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Everett Alvarez's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
