After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shelby Valley, The Floyd Central Jaguars were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against East Ridge by a score of 60-50. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Jace Martin was on fire: he threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was B.J. Petersen, who gained 124 total yards and three touchdowns.
Floyd Central now has a winning record of 6-5. As for East Ridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-6.
Floyd Central will face off against Shelby Valley at TBD on Friday. Shelby Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Floyd Central likes a good challenge. East Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
