The Berkeley Springs Indians were the 48-40 winner over the Southern Fulton Indians when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Berkeley Springs took a hard 50-35 fall against the Indians on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Berkeley Springs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 93rd in West Virginia, while the Indians are ranked 335th in Pennsylvania).
Southern Fulton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Claire Harvey, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Harvey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Sandra Stotler was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Berkeley Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Southern Fulton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Berkeley Springs will head out on the road to face off against the Conquerors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 25.6 points per game this season, so the Indians' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Southern Fulton, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Titans at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Tussey Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday.
