Edison hasn't had much luck against Oak Harbor recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chargers will venture away from home to square off against the Rockets at 4:45 p.m. Edison is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
Edison came out on top against Port Clinton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Chargers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Redskins. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Stella Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Peyton Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Oak Harbor entered their tilt with Maumee on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 9-7.
Morgan Lalonde spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Hannah Schimmoeller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Karder Haas, who went 4-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
Oak Harbor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.
Edison's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Oak Harbor, their record is now 18-5.
Edison might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Oak Harbor in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
