Holy Name fell 53-42 to Normandy on Saturday. Holy Name has not had much luck with Normandy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Holy Name's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Honesti Williams, who scored six points along with ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Layla Rudolph, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Normandy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Izzy Akin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Akin set a new season high mark in steals with four. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammi Perdue, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Holy Name's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Normandy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Name's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Padua Franciscan at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Padua Franciscan is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Normandy will be home for the holidays to greet Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Buckeye comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
