The Gaylord Blue Devils pushed their score all the way to 69 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 87-69 fall against Traverse City Central. Gaylord was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Traverse City Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Gaylord still got an impressive performance from Luke Gelow, who scored 42 points. That was a full 60.9% of Gaylord's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Torino Lamerato was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gaylord's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Traverse City Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gaylord will take on Boyne City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gaylord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday. As for Traverse City Central, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cass Tech at 5:30 p.m. on February 10th. Cass Tech will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Traverse City Central surely won't give up without a fight.
