Softball Recap: Dilley Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Dilley's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 17-13 win over the Cole Cougars. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Izabella Proctor was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Proctor was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Dilley got a massive performance out of Dakota San Miguel, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, San Miguel posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Danica Cano was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Dilley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Dilley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Cole, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dilley will head out to square off against Crystal City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Cole, they will venture away from home to take on D'Hanis at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cole is facing D'Hanis at the right time seeing as D'Hanis is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
