North Bay recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Windsor, who took down 160th ranked Windsor, 42-9.
Maria Carrillo was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in North Bay. Earlier in the week, the Pumas defeated Santa Rosa 50-34.
Casa Grande's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. JaJuan Lawson threw for 114 and two touchdowns and Jarred Roberts had 71 yards receiving. On the ground Elijah Qualls chipped in 113 yards. Jake Ielmorini helped Casa Grande's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Casa Grande's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gauchos feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Lawson has thrown for 629 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Roberts has 11 catches for 222 yards. Lawson also leads the league in rushing with 387 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Gauchos take on the Panthers. At the moment, Casa Grande is in third, while Santa Rosa is in fourth.
Maria Carrillo moved up to 424 from 513 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Bay. A 50-34 win over the Panthers helped Jay Higgins's team improve its standing.
