The Rankin Red Devils will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Van Horn Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
Rankin couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. The contest between Rankin and McCamey wasn't particularly close, with Rankin falling 50-34.
Meanwhile, Van Horn strolled past Fort Hancock with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 44-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Van Horn.
Isayell Flores was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Van Horn's points. Orlando Zamora was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Rankin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Van Horn, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything came up roses for Rankin against Van Horn in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 80-37 victory. Does Rankin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Van Horn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
