The Capital Eagles will square off against the Borah Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Borah will be up against a hot Capital squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Eagles came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-15 W against Boise.

Capital let McKenna Chavez and Romy Turpen run wild. Chavez got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base, while Turpen went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave Turpen a new career-high. Darlene Espinoza was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Capital was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Borah and Centennial, and Borah kept the tradition alive. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 11th.
Josie Gregory was excellent, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sophia Hassett, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Capital's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Borah, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-4.
Borah's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Capital has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Borah, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Capital's sizable advantage in that area, the Lions will need to find a way to close that gap.
Capital beat Borah 13-10 when the teams last played last Tuesday. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
