After a string of four wins, Oakesdale's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 65-46 fall against the Pomeroy Pirates. The match marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Pomeroy was led to victory by Jett Slusser and Braxton McKeirnan. Slusser shot 6-for-9 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, while McKeirnan posted 15 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave McKeirnan a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzer Herres, who had nine points.

Oakesdale's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Pomeroy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Oakesdale will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Garfield-Palouse at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Pomeroy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-37 win against Dayton on the 27th.
