The Northeastern Eagles were the 67-35 winner over the Hertford County Bears when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Northeastern took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hertford County on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that Northeastern let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Northeastern had strong showings from Jasmine Felton, who scored 11 points, and Jada Simpson, who scored ten points.
Leading Hertford County to victory were Brooklynn White and Jaliyah Mitchell. White scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, while Mitchell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that White pulled down eight or more rebounds. Adarielle Townsell was another key contributor, scoring no points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Northeastern's loss ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Hertford County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
