The Abernathy Antelopes and the Childress Bobcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Abernathy Antelopes had to settle for second. Abernathy's tough 28-6 defeat to Childress might stick with them for a while. The low total for Abernathy limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
Childress had a senior duo take command as Dareon Mathis rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry and Isaiah Jalomo picked up 70 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mathis' longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.
Abernathy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Childress, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Abernathy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Childress will head out on the road to face off against Wall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wall is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
