Bremen and South Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lions will square off against the Satellites at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Thursday, Bremen didn't have quite enough to beat Glenn and fell 5-4.
Chrissy Grabowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Bremen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, South Central entered their tilt with Morgan Township on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cherokees with a sharp 12-6 win. That looming 12-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Satellites yet this season.
Lexi Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, South Central got a massive performance out of Maddy Cleek, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those stolen bases were Cleek's first of the season. Valerie Horne was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
South Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
South Central's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Bremen, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
