Blake is 0-3 against Blair since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blake Bengals will head out on the road to face off against the Blair Blazers at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Blake has eight straight victories, Blair has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Blake can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They didn't even let Northwood onto the board and left with a 40-0 win. Given Blake's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Northwood is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Blair lost to Paint Branch on the road by a decisive 35-19 margin on Friday.
Blair's loss came about despite a quality game from Quinn Stofa, who threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Stofa was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards.
Blake's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Kennedy and 1-7 Northwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.6% over those games). As for Blair, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Blake was dealt a bruising 52-13 loss at the hands of Blair in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can Blake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
