The Music Mountain Warriors have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Maryvale Prep by a score of 49-36 on Friday. This was payback for Music Mountain, who suffered a 46-19 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Music Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aliyania Matuck, who scored 26 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Matuck has scored at least a third of Music Mountain's points. A'oda Chavez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Music Mountain's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Maryvale Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Music Mountain will face off against Mayer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maryvale Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
