The Foothill Trojans will square off against the West Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Foothill proved they can win big back in September (they won by 24) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Mira Monte 36-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since October 18, 2024.
Foothill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ismael Ramirez, who threw for 161 yards and three TDs. Andrew Trevino helped Ramirez out on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and one score.
Foothill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cash McAfee.
Meanwhile, West won against Arvin last Friday with 28 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Vikings took down South 28-12. The Vikings pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.
Foothill better keep an eye on Solomon Harris. He was instrumental in West's win, rushing for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 101 yards and one TD on only seven passes. Harris' longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Diego Tello also deserves some recognition as he posted his first receiving yards of the season.
West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 202 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Foothill pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points over those games. As for West, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Foothill has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like West struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 273.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Foothill came up short against West in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 20-7. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
