The Johnsonville Flashes will head out on the road to challenge the Burke Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Johnsonville has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Burke will arrive with five straight wins.
Johnsonville pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 74-66 to Hemingway.
Despite their loss, Johnsonville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taysawn Brown, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Khalil Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Burke beat Cross 43-39 on Saturday.
Johnsonville's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Burke, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Johnsonville came up short against Burke in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 62-53. Can Johnsonville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
