Baseball Game Preview: Stevenson Patriots vs. Warren Township Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Stevenson will face off against Warren Township. The Patriots will face off against the Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Stevenson took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Warren Township by a score of 6-2. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Frank Costabile made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Stevenson let Kosuke Sakamoto and Matteo Nolasco run wild. Sakamoto went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Nolasco went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Sakamoto is becoming a predictor of Stevenson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

Stevenson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Stevenson's record is now 12-14. As for Warren Township, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.
