AA District 12 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Lewis County moved up to 141 from 172 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA District 12. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating East Hickman County 42-7.
Giles County suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 50-8 loss to Giles County. The Bobcats had been ranked 25th, but fell to 35 following the defeat.
Giles County's dynamic duo of Cobb Al and Kenton Baker proved tough for Spring Hill to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Al threw for 190 yards and five touchdowns and Baker had 118 yards receiving. Nieco Walker helped Giles County's passing attack out by catching one ball for 46 yards.
Lucas Graham was the most productive running back in the league this week. In seven carries, he ran for 86 yards as Lewis County defeated the Raiders. Cody Owens also contributed to the rushing game with 61 yards on the ground.
Giles County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bobcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Al has thrown for 1249 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Baker has 38 catches for 751 yards. Al also leads the league in rushing with 506 yards.
A big matchup in AA District 12 this week will be when the Bobcats take on Fairview. Giles County is in first place, while the Yellowjackets are in third place.
The Bobcats extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Spring Hill, 50-8. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
