Keystone is 8-2 against Oberlin since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Keystone Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Oberlin The Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Keystone has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Keystone's and Black River's contest on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Keystone turned on the heat in the second half with 49 points. Everything went Keystone's way against Black River as Keystone made off with a 70-47 victory. Keystone's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Keystone found their leader in underclassman Liam Goran, who scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. The match was Goran's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Blake Moore, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Oberlin, who are still winless after their fourth match. They fell 55-45 to Firelands on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Oberlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Firelands is ranked 131st).
Keystone's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Oberlin, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Keystone came out on top in a nail-biter against Oberlin in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 63-60. Does Keystone have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oberlin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
