The Gibbs Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Sequoyah Chiefs on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (58), Gibbs still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Gibbs still got an impressive performance from Zack Turner, who scored 23 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The game was Turner's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Brady Hughes was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Gibbs and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for Sequoyah, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Gibbs won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Carter on December 29th. Carter has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. Sequoyah's road trip will continue as they head out to face Eagleton College & Career Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
