Mortimer Jordan's last matchup with Jasper could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Blue Devils lost 11-2 to the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mortimer Jordan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Condray, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Chelsea made easy work of Oak Mountain on Wednesday and carried off an 8-2 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Alaysha Crews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Olivia Palfreeman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Hilyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Chelsea is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mortimer Jordan, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-13 record.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mortimer Jordan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Chelsea struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mortimer Jordan beat Chelsea 4-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
