The Long County Blue Tide will be playing at home against the Johnson Atomsmashers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three contests, Long County finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a serious blow against Calvary Day, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, Long County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Calvary Day is ranked 28th).
Meanwhile, Johnson fell victim to Savannah Country Day's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 30-0 loss at the hands of the Hornets. Having soared to a lofty 52 points in the game before, Johnson couldn't push the score so high this time.
The losses dropped Long County to 5-4 and Johnson to 3-6.
Long County took their win against Johnson in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 38-14. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Johnson's Samari Dowdy, who rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Long County to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
