Basketball Recap: Union Grove Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If Union Grove Christian was riding high fresh off their 61-40 takedown of Cramerton Christian Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Union Grove Christian Patriots lost to the Alamance Christian Warriors on the road by a 47-30 margin on Friday. The Patriots were red-hot offensively headed into the game (they scored no less than 55 points in the four contests prior) but the Warriors' defense proved too tough.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colin Wykes, who posted 15 points. Wykes' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ethan Smith was another key player, putting up six points.

Union Grove Christian moved to 15-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Alamance Christian, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Union Grove Christian and Alamance Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Union Grove Christian (ranked 114th) will meet Asheboro Hybrid Academy (ranked 445th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Union Grove Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. Similarly, Alamance Christian will face off against Fellowship Baptist Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 2, 2025 up 179 places (91 vs. 270).
