The South Portland Red Riots will take on the Kennebunk Rams at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Kennebunk took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on South Portland, who comes in off a win.
South Portland's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Westbrook with a sharp 8-0 victory. The Red Riots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Parker Reny and Brady Main made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Reny pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Main didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At the plate, Reny went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Main went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corbin Voisine, who went 1-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Healy, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Kennebunk wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against Gorham recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Max Andrews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kennebunk saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph DiGiovanni, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
The win made it two in a row for South Portland and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Kennebunk, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
South Portland might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Kennebunk in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Red Riots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
