It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the North DeSoto Griffins had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by DeRidder at home to the tune of 63-21. The win was familiar territory for North DeSoto who now have ten in a row.
Leading North DeSoto to victory were Trysten Hopper and Luke Delafield. Hopper rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, while Delafield threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Delafield hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Landry Wyatt was another key contributor, picking up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why DeRidder lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reed Williams. Despite the final result, he rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
North DeSoto pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Bossier and 3-8 Washington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.1% over those games). As for DeRidder, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
North DeSoto will face off against Iowa at TBD on Friday. One thing working in Iowa's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches. DeRidder does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
