After losing to the Christ the King Crusaders the last time they met, the Community School of Davidson Spartans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Community School of Davidson enjoyed a cozy 65-48 win over Christ the King on Friday. Given Community School of Davidson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Christ the King is ranked 364th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Community School of Davidson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Moran led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of John Shields, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Ryan, who scored 21 points. Drew Reimels was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Community School of Davidson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Christ the King, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community School of Davidson will take on Langtree Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Langtree Charter has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11. As for Christ the King, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lincoln Charter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
