Softball Recap: Pineville Wins Going Away Against Williamsburg

Pineville never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Williamsburg on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Yellow Jackets. Considering the Mountain Lions have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Rachel Howard spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Addison Slone was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Malley Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Pineville's win bumped their record up to 9-6-1. As for Williamsburg, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pineville will take on Leslie County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williamsburg, they will face off against Owsley County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets are facing the Owls / Lady Owls at the right time seeing as the Owls / Lady Owls are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
