Fort Dorchester was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 25-23.
West Ashley will need to focus on slowing down Hannah Wallace, one of several Fort Dorchester players who made an impact when they last played. She had 15 digs and two aces.
Fort Dorchester suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 10-10-1. As for West Ashley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: West Ashley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Fort Dorchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went West Ashley's way against Fort Dorchester in their previous meeting back in September, as West Ashley made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
