After both having extra time off, the Pace Patriots and the Oviedo Lions will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pace heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup last Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Navarre. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Raiders since last Monday.
Pace couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Navarre a tough time in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 30-32, 25-22.
Pace's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kiera Beckham, who had 20 assists and four digs, and Layla Claudio, who had 18 assists and three digs.
Meanwhile, Oviedo waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Silverhawks.
Oviedo wouldn't go down easily and took Lake Howell into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-13, 25-20, 24-26, 15-9.
Pace better keep an eye on Anderson Hitt. She was instrumental in Oviedo's win, getting 11 digs and one assist.
Oviedo was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive matches.
Pace's loss ended a seven-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for Oviedo, their win bumped their record up to 20-6.
